The Cosumnes Coalition

GREAT NOVEMBER NEWS!  Cosumnes salmon have arrived at upstream spawning gravels.  Once again, as soon as the river connected, the salmon were on their way and caught the little storm pulse to quickly reach the gravels.  Thanks to Fishery Foundation for the photo!  Fingers crossed for continued storms...

The Cosumnes River flows from the highlands of the central Sierra Nevada to the lowlands of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley and is the last largely free lowing river of the Sierra Nevada. The watershed's unique ecological and cultural values have made it a focus for conservation for over three decades, but those ecological values remain threatened by a combination of groundwater overdraft, direct diversion of flow, land use changes, and climate change. The Cosumnes Coalition works collaboratively with communities, agencies, and partners, to preserve and restore Cosumnes River values on a watershed scale.
